The following exercises may be omitted, but they will prove profitable if used. It matters not on what key they are played. Observe the accents.

In order to facilitate counting the eight notes, you may empty the world “and” on those notes which fall between the regular beats. In order to avoid all irregularities in counting, it is best to employ the world “and” between quarter notes.
